Handshakes were strong and hearts were warm at the 2022 Utah Auto Expo in Sandy, UT on January 14th, 2022. Kenworth Sales Company Dealer Principal, Kyle Treadway, was inducted into the Utah Auto Expo Hall of Fame.
Kyle Treadway is the first truck dealer to win this prestigious award, despite the stiff competition among the new car and truck dealers in Utah. This award was presented by the New Car Dealers of Utah Group. Kyle Treadway has been an integral part of the Utah Auto Dealers Association and the Heavy Duty Truck Committee for the last 8 years. He has been an active advocate during his time and has made notable contributions to the trucking industry and its integrity.
Because this award has never been given to a truck dealer, this induction highlights just how much Kenworth Sales stands out amongst the competition and how Kyle has been a keystone in the company’s generational success.
Kenworth Sales was started by Kyle’s grandfather, Jay Treadway, in 1945 as an intermountain Kenworth Truck Dealership. Jay was a modest yet dynamic man who knew a thing or two about starting from the ground up. He grew up in rural Tennessee and as a young man, he left Appalachia to work at Garret Freight Lines. He met his wife, Veda, a few years later and she taught him to read and write. Not too long after his move, Jay was approached to open up a Kenworth Sales dealership in Salt Lake City.
The partnership was organized to carry on general sales, parts, and service of trucks used in intra-state and inter-state hauling, construction, and farming under a dealership agreement with the Seattle, Washington-based Kenworth Truck Company. As a young child, Kyle has fond memories of sitting in his grandfather’s lap as he showed him how to maneuver his car out of the garage. Although Kyle was too small to do it himself, his grandfather gave him encouragement, tools, and confidence from an early age.
This focus on building relationships would become the cornerstone of everything the Kenworth Sales brand stands behind and an integral part of the business. Before joining the Kenworth Sales Legal Council in 1987, Kyle achieved multiple advanced degrees from the University of Utah and spent time working as an attorney. At the young age of 27, Kyle became the Dealer Principal for Kenworth Sales and has continued to build upon the success of his ancestors for the last 75 years.
Kyle stays busy with his family but still makes time for beautifying the community in any way he can. You might find him picking up trash and spending time planting hundreds of trees in his local HOA. Kyle has always believed in creating beautiful spaces and it shows in his personal life and in the business he provides. With 76 years of building relationships and backed by the love of the industry, Kenworth Sales is the heart and soul of the trucking industry for new and used trucks, parts, and service.
